Joe and his family had to start their life over. The Hanada family had to sell their things.
Mike, Joe's brother, broke a dresser with a hammer because they asked if they
could buy it for 1 dollar. He made it with his own hands. Also, they
sold their car for $20! But, what they could take was very little. They could
only take things that they could carry.

for a long time and then finally returned when his son, Mike, died.
